Reminded of My Blessings

I have to say there are days when I feel so guilty. I often wake up grumbling over the tiniest of things: it's gloomy out, I have to go to work, I have to iron, my nail chipped.....and on and on I can go sometimes. At the time, I really feel aggravated by whatever is "bothering" me. Maybe it's that I am tired from often being up with precious two-year old, Dante. Or maybe it's from being off from my thyroid. That can make you exhausted too.

Once I get up and start navigating through my day I encounter other people and scan down my Facebook wall. That's when I realize that I have it made. I don't have too many real problems. Some of things that people are dealing with are way beyond my comprehension level.

Take for example the whole reason why I started this blog. I heard on K-Love Christian radio station about a girl who sat on her school's bathroom floor eating balloons. When the teacher questioned her on why she was doing that she said she was starving because her parents didn't have money for food. Can you imagine?

Or this poor family, Bringing Home the Browns. The husband was serving his duty in the military while the wife was pregnant. That would be hard enough for me. On top of that late in her pregnancy she slipped into a coma and the baby was taken by c-section. The poor husband came home from duty and now splits his time between the hospital with his wife and at home caring for his newborn. All this after they spent seven years trying co conceive. Thankfully the baby is healthy. Let's pray the mother wakes up so they can all be together.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. We could go on and on. Well I know what you are thinking, "My Denise. You are just a ray of sunshine today." Honestly, my goal isn't to depress you, I promise! I actually want to encourage you! Keep in mind that the little day-to-day annoyances are temporary and will go away. You'll get through it! It won't be easy but you can do it. Find ways to build some joy into your day by simply getting a cup of coffee to enjoy while reading a book, soaking in the fall sunshine, or making a list of your blessings.

I personally reflect on my blessings, remember that I am mostly healthy (except for the thyroid thing which is just more annoying than anything!) and then I hug my two guys, hubby Nick and son Dante. I am so fortunate to have them and am grateful for their heath as well. I like to soak up their embrace as often as I can, while I can.

What are you grateful today? Feel free to share in the comments section. I plan on including a weekly post about others and how their lives have been blessed. Please let me know if you'd like to be featured!
